Avionics Field Applications Engineer
Location: Torrance, CA
Join the ranks of a fast-growing Southern California high-tech company specializing in advanced military defense, homeland security, and energy solutions has an immediate opportunity for an Avionics Field Application Engineer to work within its Corporate Operations Department. The successful candidate will provide onsite developmental support for avionics systems by utilizing their advanced troubleshooting skills on all aircraft systems and their avionics interfaces. He/She will have excellent communication skills, a team-oriented approach, an interdisciplinary outlook and strong self-motivation.
Key Responsibilities
  • Apply Company's Mission, Vision, Values and Quality Policy and enthusiastically exhibits a desire to see company succeed
  • Provide onsite developmental support for avionics systems, including providing support outside of normal business hours
  • Generates customer specific engineering communications such as notification documents
  • Performs troubleshooting of advanced avionics issues on an integration rig or aircraft on-site
  • Supports customer ground test efforts such as system integration and qualification testing as well as flight test efforts, including collection of avionics data during testing
  • Assists in creation of aircraft interconnect documentation from existing design documentation or through discovery to confirm
  • Work closely with engineers and customers to coordinate issues and resolve moderately complex hardware and software interface problems
  • Provide on-site training to customers for usage of company products as needed
  • Track all customer reported issues and manage closure to all issues
  • Provide technical information to customers to resolve any reported issue
Experience Guidelines
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Math, or Physics
  • Demonstrates advanced troubleshooting skills on most avionics issues
  • Driven problem solver with proven success in solving difficult problems
  • Demonstrates thorough working knowledge of all aircraft systems and their avionics interfaces
  • Demonstrates strong working knowledge of aircraft data acquisition methods
  • Demonstrates intermediate proficiency using Microsoft Office, including desired familiarity with Cadence, Creo, AutoCAD and MS Visio
  • Demonstrates ability to use embedded operating systems such as Linux and RTOS such as Green Hills Integrity
  • Possesses detailed working knowledge of all of the company's avionics products
  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others
  • Demonstrates a high level of professionalism and customer service
  • Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to work proactively and effectively with minimal supervision
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a flexible, fast paced and challenging environment
